You have to let go to make space
Personal thought after a breakup

I heard this phrase not long ago and it really stuck with me: “Two things can’t occupy the same space.” What it means, at least to me, is that we tend to hold on too tightly to things, whether that’s people, the past, or the future — and by doing so, we don’t leave room for the good things to come in.
In love
For example, when we go through a breakup, it can be hard to accept reality. It’s hard to accept that someone who meant so much to us is no longer going to be part of our lives. We hold on, even when it hurts. But by doing that, we don’t allow new people to enter our lives. This is where that phrase makes sense: we can’t be with someone new if we haven’t fully let go of the previous person. We have to let go in order to move forward, and that’s okay. It’s part of the cycle of life.
"Some people come into our lives only to teach us something, and once they do, they leave."
In time
When it comes to time, the same idea applies. We often live worrying about what will happen in the future or replaying everything that happened in the past. We focus so much on the future and the past that we forget what actually matters: the present moment. Not what happened, not what will happen, but what is happening right now.
